Walking Etiquette

Leaders should always appoint a back-marker, keep an eye out for stragglers, allow for comfort stops and not allow faster walkers to set the pace.

Walkers should follow the route planned out by the leader.

Please do not deviate or set your own course as this puts additional pressure on both the leader and the rest of the walking group.

The timings set out for lunch stops and coffee breaks should be adhered to.

Please do not force the pace or get ahead of the leader.

When turning off at a sharp bend or where the entrance to a footpath is obstructed, please make sure that those behind you know where the turning is.

Please bear in mind that we all have responsibility, not only for our own safety on walks, but also for each other.
